Therapeutic yoga and trauma-informed yoga provide support for challenges and healing in ways that are more difficult to be met in a traditional yoga group class. These challenges can be physical, mental or emotional. Yoga therapy can be a means to manage illness or facilitate healing. Yoga as therapy or trauma-informed yoga invites the individual toward healing in a way that meets the individual where he/she is at in the moment. It empowers the student to explore what feels comfortable and safe in his/her body. Healing happened when one is better able to notice what is happening in the body; through this inquiry and self-discovery, the individual can begin to find more mastery through their choices of movement and breath.
